No, I did not stop.
Writing in a gratitude journal has completely changed my life. It is a part of my morning ritual and is extremely beneficial for your mind, body, and spirit.
Gratitude is more than just saying thank you for the things that you have.
It is also a powerful way of putting your mind in a state of peace, relaxation, and knowing you are okay.
Every time I write in my gratitude journal, I start to appreciate the things that I have. The world offers so many material things that I end up wanting more than I actually need. Gratitude makes me appreciate and be happy with what is already there.
Practicing gratitude is so powerful, it can even heal and improve relationships. The media always has something to say about relationships and how they should be. Gratitude helps appreciate the person in front of you. There may be many things that you don’t like about them, but what are you grateful for about them?
What about them makes you feel like the best person in the world?
Really dig deep and see what you can be thankful for today.
Ask yourself these questions:
What am I grateful for?
What can I be grateful for?
Who can I reach out to today and tell them that I am grateful for them?
There will always be something new. There will always be something better. That is what makes it hard to really be grateful for what you have.
One of my favorite quotes is, “I am too busy watering my own grass to notice if yours is greener.” Too many people keep comparing and end up neglecting what is in front of them.
It has completely changed my life for the better. I personally know many people who don’t even know how to where to start. The few questions that I asked above are just the tip of the iceberg.
How to start:
1.) Get a Journal
2.) Set aside 5 minutes a day (preferably in the morning) where you can commit to writing in your journal.
3.) Start small. New habits take time. Writing about what you are grateful for can be challenging especially to some people when there are so many things that bog you down.
4.) Just start writing. Even if it means 1-2 sentences saying that you are grateful that you started. Maybe you can say that you are grateful for trying this. Or maybe even saying that you are grateful for being grateful!
Personally, a few things I am grateful for are that I get to create a blog like this and help people start their gratitude journey. I am grateful that you are reading this and have kept you here long enough to read this! I am grateful that I get to live another day and contribute to the growth of others.
Challenge yourself to do it for 21 days and you will notice so many more things you can be grateful for.
