I noticed that there are still a lot of men who don’t know much proper hygiene or grooming. Here are my top 11 tips and tricks to have better hygiene and look aesthetically pleasing to the people around you in no particular order.
1.) Get rid of the nose hair.
Having unplucked nose hair is a massive turn off. It’s almost looking at your neighbor’s yard and seeing that they haven’t cut their weeds. The house may look nice, but the grass still needs to be cut.
The best thing you can do is buy a nose hair clipper. These are great devices that can save you money and is a lot safer than having your nose hair ripped out of your face.

2.) Wear deodorant
I honestly don’t know why there are still people who, right before they walk out the door and think, “Nah, I don’t think anyone can get near me enough to smell me today.”
Wear some deodorant! If you aren’t, taking a look around and ask yourself why your friends haven’t called you to hang out for a while. Just kidding. But seriously, be courteous enough towards the people around you.
One of the Best Types of deodorants are the natural ones that don’t have chemicals like Charcoal-Magnesium Deodorant.
3.) Clip your nails
It is pretty sad seeing a lot of men with dirty fingernails which can be prevented if they only clipped them! Trimming your nails to the appropriate length will do wonders.
Do you know how many women I have overheard talking about how nasty it is guys fingernails are when they are long?
Make sure you clip them!
4.) Use the proper facial wash for your skin type
When I first got introduced to proper face wash routines, I just bought random face washes for men because they looked bad-ass. Here was the problem, I did not know why I was still getting acne!
Until I realized that there were actual skin types for specific faces, I was, unfortunately, using the wrong one.
There are 4 skin types.
Normal, dry, oily, combination.
Once you can figure out which one you have, you will be able to get the results you want.
I personally have used Nivea Mens Facial wash. It makes my face feel smooth after I use it.
5.) Use sunblock for your face.
I remember my girlfriend telling me over and over again to put on sunscreen. She was very convincing as to why it is needed.
When I was in high school, I once watched a video about how ANY kind of light can affect your skin, even if it is your room lamp!
Too much sun exposure causes faster signs of aging.
SPF 45+ is recommended for your face. MINIMUM!
If you are exposed to direct sunlight, higher SPF is recommended.
6.) Keep your beard clean-shaven or well-groomed
You do not want to be walking around looking homeless the majority of the time. You may think to yourself, “Well, I am not trying to impress anyone,” that may be true, but at the end of the day, it is always beneficial to bring your best self where ever you go.
Keeping a well-groomed face can contribute to your self-confidence and lead to connections and opportunities for new relationships.
7.) Put lotion on your skin
Many men have yet to let go of “But that’s what women do” mentality. If your ego and pride get in the way of you having healthy-looking skin, that is entirely your fault.
No one wants to see your skin cracking and peeling. Especially if you are trying to get in the dating world!
8.) Wear cologne
Have you ever had someone walk past you and thought, “What cologne is he wearing?” No? Just me?
Well, being a straight man and still be able to appreciate cologne on other men is the manliest man thing ever.
When I smell something really captivating, I am always inclined to ask what it is so I can buy it for myself.
Some of the best cologne that I have used was Yves St. Laurent, Bvlgari Pour Homme, and Aqua de Gio.
I have yet to try Invictus. I heard so many great things about this one. That will be my next gift to myself.
9.) Clean up your eyebrows
As a man, it may seem intimidating to have your eyebrows touched, but it is essential for grooming yourself. There are a lot of
Having thick eyebrow hair looking like Chewbacca can make people talk to your eyebrows rather than your eyes.
10.) Style your hair (Disregard this if you’re bald.)
Your hair can be the best or worse accessory that you have. It can make you look like Magic Mike to Magic Syke.
Do what you can so it can look aesthetically pleasing and clean.
Line it up. Find a barber who can understand what you are trying to do with your hair. Or if you don’t know, ask them to cut your hair the way they think would look great on you.
Comb your hair, gel it, put wax on it, or matte.
Otherwise, get together with a few of your female friends and as their opinions on what would look good on your head shape!
11.) Floss.
Unfortunately, many people are still not flossing. I was guilty of that years ago. I relied solely on my dentist to take care of that.
Now 2 crowns later, I have not missed a day in almost 4 years.
The point is, flossing is still a cardinal part of dental hygiene.
My favorite floss is coconut floss. Coconut floss is somewhat thick. If you have tight gaps between your teeth, I would recommend something else.
